Mrs B’s Care and her EveryDay Angels
Mrs B is 71 year old and lives alone in Wallsend and sadly took a fall at the end of December subsequently spending a month in hospital. When she was finally discharged in January the hospital, via her local authority put her in touch with EveryDay Care at Home initially to instigate a personal care service due to Mrs B’s lack of mobility.
Mrs B’s reduced confidence
Mrs B felt that not only was her mobility majorly reduced but her confidence had dropped significantly as a result of the fall. She was at this point unable to take care of herself and her independence was severely compromised as a result.
Mrs B and EveryDay Care
Mrs B initially required the EveryDay Care at Home team to undertake personal care as well as meal preparation and medication prompting.
The team still visits each day for 2 half hours providing support with meal making and domestic chores. Mrs B is now able to walk short distances and can prepare a cuppa again for herself.
These are only small steps but it has significantly improved her quality of life. Mrs B is now leaving her property with a friend and shopping or taking lunch which she feels has given her her life back again.
Mrs B is now looking to join Age UK North Tyneside’s Strength & Balance 12 week Falls programme.
|Mrs B describes her Personal Support Assistants as “my angels”.
She says “As I live alone the girls give me a real person to talk to every day, I don’t feel so alone now. I couldn’t have managed without them in the beginning. It’s an excellent service and I’d recommend anyone else who is struggling to get in touch. They give me advice and support when I need it and it’s a jolly, jolly good service”
