Trainee Area Care at Home Manager
My older brother, John, has Down’s Syndrome and from a very early age, I acted as his carer. At the age of 13 I began helping out at his school, Sherriff Leas, during the summer holidays.
I left school at 16 and went into the retail world until the age of 21. Although I enjoyed this I felt no real passion for the sector.
At 23 I accepted a role within a nursing care home and it reignited a spark in me. I knew then that caring for others was the profession for me. Since then I have worked for Age Concern and the Carer’s Centre. I applied to EveryDay Care & Support originally as a community-based carer. I progressed and took on the Team Leader role, then Area Coordinator position and recently became a Trainee Manager.
I love working for EveryDay and supporting the independence of our diverse types of customers. I follow their journey from the initiation of their individual care package sometimes supporting them to the end of their life.
I have been able to do this with the support of my incredible care team who go above and beyond to ensure our customers receive the best possible care that they can.
